Dubai Marina is one of Dubai’s most stunning destinations: modern, visually striking, and full of life. While many associate it only with luxury or skyscrapers, the truth is it offers a calm and safe environment for families, with plenty of leisure options, waterfront promenades, beaches, and open spaces.

With over 200 towers, a 3-kilometer canal, and a 7-kilometer waterfront promenade buzzing with activity, Dubai Marina is the ultimate showcase of modern Dubai.

However, if you’re planning your trip during summer (June to September), keep in mind that the heat can be brutal, with temperatures easily exceeding 45°C (113°F). During those months, visiting Dubai Marina with kids is not recommended. The rest of the year, however, offers much more pleasant temperatures for families to enjoy.

Beyond its stores and restaurants, inside the mall itself you’ll find a very complete and perfectly organized supermarket, with fresh product sections like meat, fish, and fruit.

During our visit we also shopped at Almaya Supermarket, located next to the Dubai Marina Place hotel (Dream Tower 1 – Al Marsa St). We were surprised by the variety of fresh products and the impeccable organization of everything, plus prices that were way more reasonable than we expected for such a touristy area.

Preguntas Frecuentes

Is Dubai Marina a good place to visit with kids?

Dubai Marina can be an interesting place to visit with kids, but with important reservations related to the climate.

The positive aspects are clear:

  • It’s a modern, safe, and well-designed area with wide pedestrian walkways and monitored zones
  • It offers attractive activities for children: yacht tours, JBR beach, Ain Dubai (when operational), water sports
  • It has excellent family infrastructure: restaurants with kids’ menus, air-conditioned shopping centers, parks
  • The visual contrast between skyscrapers, desert, and sea is striking for children
  • The area is well connected by public transport

However, there’s a critical factor that many people overlook:

During the summer months (June to September), the heat can be suffocating, with temperatures easily exceeding 45°C (113°F). From our experience, during those months it’s really not suitable to explore Dubai Marina with children.

The practical reality:

If you travel between November and March, Dubai Marina can be a memorable experience for families. Outside those dates, the extreme heat turns the streets into inhospitable places, especially for young children. Activities become limited to air-conditioned spaces and outdoor walks become practically impossible during midday hours.

Our honest take: Dubai Marina isn’t universally “excellent” for families with kids. It’s highly dependent on the time of year and your family’s heat tolerance. Based on our visit, we wouldn’t recommend it during summer months with young children.

Yacht tours in Dubai Marina vary depending on the experience you choose. The most popular options for families include daytime panoramic tours that typically last between 1 and 2 hours, perfect for keeping kids’ attention. There are also longer evening experiences with dinner included, though these are more geared toward couples. The ideal choice for families is to opt for shorter tours that allow you to enjoy the experience without the little ones getting tired.

During the tour you’ll sail through the world’s largest man-made canal, admiring luxury hotels, exclusive residences, and the famous JBR Beach. You’ll see Dubai’s impressive skyline from a unique perspective, with views of the marina’s most iconic skyscrapers. It’s a perfect opportunity to capture your family photos with one of the most impressive marinas on the planet.
Yes, Dubai Marina is very well adapted for strollers. The waterfront promenade (The Walk) is completely pedestrian and features smooth surfaces and access ramps. Yachts usually have suitable access points, though it’s recommended to bring a baby carrier as an alternative for getting on and off the boat. The shopping area and restaurants are also well equipped for families with babies. However, we don’t think it’s the most suitable place to travel with young children. The heat is suffocating.
Dubai Marina has numerous family-friendly restaurants along the waterfront and at JBR Beach. You’ll find everything from international chains with kids’ menus to restaurants with canal views where children can be entertained watching the yachts go by. Many establishments offer high chairs, children’s menus, and play areas, making dining out comfortable and enjoyable for the whole family.
Prices for yacht tours in Dubai Marina vary depending on the duration and type of experience. Basic panoramic tours for families typically cost between 150-400 AED per adult (approximately $40-110/£33-90), with discounts for children. Premium experiences with dinner and additional services are more expensive. It’s recommended to book in advance online to get better rates and ensure availability, especially during high season.
Yes, it’s highly recommended to book in advance, especially for yacht tours. Dubai Marina is one of Dubai’s most popular attractions and spots fill up quickly, particularly during the winter months (November-March) and on weekends. Booking online in advance guarantees you availability, better prices, and avoids unnecessary waits with young children.
Near Dubai Marina you’ll find JBR Beach (Jumeirah Beach Residence), perfect for kids to play in the sand and water. There’s also The Walk, a waterfront promenade with shops and entertainment, and Bluewaters Island with Ain Dubai (giant observation wheel). A short distance away is Aquaventure Waterpark and The Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis, both very popular with families. The area offers multiple options to complete your family day.

Honestly, no. Dubai Marina is not suitable for visiting in summer with children.

During our visit, we experienced firsthand how extreme the summer heat in Dubai can be. We’re talking about temperatures that easily exceed 45°C (113°F), with humidity that makes it feel even worse. August is particularly unbearable.

What we experienced:

  • The streets become inhospitable during midday hours (12:00 PM-4:00 PM)
  • Even short walks from air-conditioned spaces to your destination are exhausting for kids
  • Outdoor activities like yacht tours or beach time are extremely uncomfortable
  • You end up spending most of your time jumping from one air-conditioned space to another
  • Young children especially struggle with the heat and can become irritable quickly

Our recommendation:

If possible, visit Dubai Marina between November and March when the weather is much more pleasant and you can actually enjoy the outdoor areas, waterfront walks, and activities without suffering. The summer heat genuinely takes away from the experience, especially when traveling with children.

If you must visit in summer, keep your expectations realistic and plan for very limited outdoor time.
